With over 13 thousand animals to see the Zoological Garden is really one of the greatest attractions
especially for the families with children, who can watch playing monkeys, dreaming hippo,sleeping pandas or feeding the predators.

Founded in 1844 the zoo is the oldest in Germany and features also the oldest pavillon buildings, like the one for Giraffe build between 1871-2. One of the biggest gardens in Europe, occupies most of Tiergarten area, with two main entry gates.
The Lion’s Gate leeds to the zoo from Hardenbergplatz, but more known is the main entry from Budapester Strasse
- the decorative Elephant Gate resembling the entrance to an Oriental palace.

Some of the main attractions in the park are Bao-Bao and Yan-Yan the giant pandas obtained as a gift from Chinese government in 1980. The apes are always gathering the spectators willing to experience the behaviour of big Gorillas.
More adrenaline puts into the blood watching feeding of predators, to see are the lions and crocodiles eating their tasty meals given at the fixed time.The lions are fed at 2:30pm in summer and at 3:30pm in winter.

The separate entrance leads to one of the biggest European aquarium with sharks, piranhas, coral reef animals and electric eels. Reptiles enjoy separate terraria, in the Crocodile Hall the wooden bridge run above the seats with hungry animals.
The glass wall in hippopotamus pool enables visitors to observe underwater behaviour of these enormous creatures.

The other pavillons include the Aviaries for various bird species, and a darkened Nocturnal Animal House for night creatures.
