Visible from almost any place in Berlin, the television tower ‘Fernsehturm’ is one of the most popular of the city attractions.
Built in 1965-196 by cooperation of Swedish and German architects until today remains the title of the highest building in Berlin.
The tall concrete column reaches 250 m in height, two fast elevators inside take the visitors to the big glass-and-metal ball atop.
The ball holds the panorama terrace located exactly 203 m above the ground. The main attraction of the tower is Tele-Cafe situated inside of the ball.
The metal ball with the terrace and the cafe rotates slowly around its axis, and the whole rotation take about half an hour, so tourists can enjoy the splendid panoramic view of the city while drinking coffee. In the cloudless day the visibility reaches 40 km.
Located above are the amenities of television station and the antenna, which adds the meters to the tower, which is finally 368 m high.
